Utility trailers for sale
A utility trailer is an open, light trailer that is easy to hitch, with a flat floor and low sides. It is the most versatile trailer for the home, the cottage and small jobs. At Martin Remorques, we sell galvanized Laroche utility trailers, from 4 × 8 ft to 66 in × 10 ft.

What is a utility trailer used for?
It carries everything you would rather not put in your vehicle: bagged soil, mulch and gravel, branches and leaves, renovation materials, furniture, appliances and waste for the recycling depot. Homeowners use it all year, for yard work in summer and firewood in the fall.
With its rear ramp, it also carries a mower, a snowblower or a small ATV. Being light, it is easy to manoeuvre and fits in a corner of the yard or garage.
Laroche utility trailers
Laroche utility trailers are made of galvanized steel, which protects the metal from rust, even after several winters on salted roads. Depending on the model, they have a treated plank or plywood floor, a rear ramp and tie-down rings.
We have single-axle models in the compact 4 × 8 and 4.5 × 8 ft sizes, and a tandem-axle 66 in × 10 ft model that is longer and steadier on the road.
One axle or two?
A single-axle utility trailer is light, can be moved by hand and is easy to back up. It suits light loads and city trips. Our 4 × 8 and 4.5 × 8 ft Laroche trailers have a 2,000 or 3,500 lb axle: take the 3,500 lb if you often haul soil, bagged gravel or firewood.
Two axles spread the weight over four wheels: the trailer is steadier on the highway, bounces less when empty, and a flat tire does not leave you stranded. The 66 in × 10 ft Laroche has two 2,000 lb axles for longer loads.
Choosing the right utility trailer size
A 4 × 8 ft trailer is enough for yard work, bags of soil, a mower or renovation waste. A 4.5 × 8 ft gives a little more width for furniture and panels. The longer 66 in × 10 ft takes long materials, a small ATV or a snowblower with its attachments.
Measure what you haul most often and think about where you will store the trailer. We recommend the size that suits your vehicle and your jobs.
Utility trailer options
A rear ramp turns a utility trailer into a trailer for the mower, snowblower or ATV; all our Laroche trailers have one. Solid sides hold soil and mulch, open sides make the trailer lighter and let the wind through. A triple-beam tongue, as on our Laroche trailers, stiffens the front of the trailer, and a wheeled jack lets you move it by hand around the yard.
Add a tarp for light materials, a spare wheel for long trips and a coupler lock so you can leave it parked with peace of mind. Our parts department orders these accessories and our workshop installs them.
Loading and tying down
Place heavy items near the axles and as low as possible, with lighter ones on each side, to limit sway in curves. Keep a little more weight ahead of the axles than behind: the trailer stays stable and does not lift the rear of your vehicle. Strap everything to the tie-down rings, and cover light materials with a tarp.
Before leaving, attach the safety chains directly to the vehicle, check the lights and turn signals, and make sure your mirrors show both sides of the trailer. The trailer’s weight on the hitch plus passengers and luggage must not exceed your vehicle’s load capacity.
Utility trailer care
A galvanized trailer needs little upkeep. Check tire pressure and lights before leaving, grease the bearings once a year and replace a floor board as soon as it splits. In winter, store the trailer on level ground, under cover if possible, to keep the floor dry.
Our workshop replaces bearings, lighting, wiring and floors, and our parts department orders wheels, tires, couplers and safety chains for your trailer.

Why choose a galvanized utility trailer?
Galvanizing coats the steel with a layer of zinc that protects it from rust. With our salted winter roads, a galvanized trailer keeps its looks and strength longer than a trailer that is only painted.
Can I haul a mower or an ATV in a utility trailer?
Yes, the rear ramp lets you drive them on. Choose a width that fits the vehicle and strap it to the tie-down rings before you leave.
Do you service utility trailers?
Yes. Our workshop handles maintenance, repairs and equipment installation on trailers, and we sell parts and accessories: lighting, hitches, wheels and tires.
Does a utility trailer need to be registered?
Yes. In Québec, a trailer must be registered with the SAAQ and carry its plate, whatever its size.
Does a utility trailer need brakes?
Only if it weighs 1,300 kg or more with its load, or more than half the weight of the towing vehicle. Most small utility trailers with light loads stay under that limit; weigh your load if you haul heavy.
Which utility trailer for firewood?
Firewood is heavy. Choose a trailer with a 3,500 lb axle, like our 4 × 8 and 4.5 × 8 ft Laroche trailers, and do not stack above the sides without tying the load down.
Can I finance a utility trailer?
Yes. Martin Remorques works with National Bank of Canada for bank financing and with Crédit-Bail CLÉ for business leasing. We prepare the application with you; the institution approves it and sets the rate.
