RC Trailers or Ideal Cargo trailer?
Martin Remorques does not sell RC Trailers. For the same need, here are the brands sold at Martin Remorques:
RC Trailers, from Middlebury, Indiana, builds steel or aluminum enclosed cargo trailers in four series: Entry Level, Deluxe, Heavy Duty and Race. For the same use, Martin Remorques sells new Ideal Cargo enclosed trailers built in Québec, from 5 × 8 to 8.5 × 16 ft, with a galvanized structure and R5 insulation.

Reading an RC Trailers name
RC Trailers renamed its series: the former RWT became the Entry Level, the RDLX the Deluxe, the RTB the Heavy Duty and the RRT the Race. If you are looking at an older ad, that name tells you what trim level you are dealing with, from the basic trailer to the race trailer.
The brand builds in steel or aluminum depending on the model. To compare with an Ideal Cargo, note the width, length, interior height, type of rear door and frame material. Those five points tell you whether two enclosed trailers really do the same job.
Heavy Duty or Work Zone 8.5 × 16
The Heavy Duty is RC Trailers’ heavy-duty series. At Martin Remorques, our toughest enclosed trailer is the 8.5 × 16 ft Ideal Cargo Work Zone: 80 in of interior height or 86 in on the raised editions, double rear doors, a side door and two three-way 12 V switches.
The All Black edition rides on 5,200 lb torsion axles with aluminum wheels and a keyed compression lock. For a slightly narrower trailer, the 7.5 × 16 ft Work Zone has 5,200 lb drop axles and a 36 in front stone guard, and the 7 × 14 ft is also available with 5,200 lb axles.
What to check on a used enclosed trailer
If the RC Trailers you are looking at is used, start underneath: rust on the frame, crossmembers and axle mounts tells you how the trailer has aged. Then walk the whole floor to feel for soft spots, and look along the roof edge and the doors: a water stain gives away a leak.
Also check the tires, bearings, brakes if any, lights and connector, then open and close every door. A new Ideal Cargo starts from scratch: a galvanized structure with a lifetime corrosion warranty and a 10-year structural warranty, R5 insulation and a clean interior. Our workshop can also inspect a used trailer you already own.
A new enclosed trailer built in Québec
Ideal Cargo builds its trailers in Québec on a galvanized steel structure, with recycled composite walls covered in aluminum. The maker says its trailer is about 10% lighter than a conventional enclosed trailer. All our Ideal Cargo trailers are R5 insulated, with a white interior, an LED dome light and a built-in loading light.
The Work Zone has double rear doors for work; the Sport Zone has a 2,000 lb ramp door and four floor anchors for an ATV, a motorcycle or a snowmobile. Our sizes run from the compact 5 × 8 ft to the 8.5 × 16 ft, through the 7 and 7.5 ft widths.
Maintaining an enclosed trailer
An enclosed trailer lasts a long time if you check a few points every season. In spring, rinse the salt off underneath, look at the roof and door seals, and grease the bearings. Before a long trip, check tire pressure and wear, brakes, lights and the connector, and retighten the wheel nuts.
Inside, watch the floor near the doors, where water and snow come in, and keep the vents clear. On an Ideal Cargo, the galvanized structure has no paint to touch up, and the white interior is easy to clean. Our workshop handles general maintenance and repairs on every make, and our parts counter finds lights, wheels and tires.
Buying your enclosed trailer at Martin Remorques
At our lot in Saint-Ambroise-de-Kildare, in Lanaudière, you see our new Ideal Cargo trailers up close: galvanized frame, floor, roof and doors. If you are weighing a new or used RC Trailers, note its series and size: we will show you the matching Ideal Cargo.
To buy, we work with National Bank of Canada for bank financing and, for businesses, with Crédit-Bail CLÉ for commercial leasing, and we prepare the application with you. After the sale, our workshop handles maintenance, repairs and equipment installation, and our parts counter finds the lighting, hitch, wheels and tires your trailer needs.
Does Martin Remorques sell RC Trailers trailers?
No, we are not a RC Trailers dealer. For an enclosed trailer, we sell Ideal Cargo Work Zone and Sport Zone trailers, built in Québec. All are new, from 5 × 8 to 8.5 × 16 ft.
Does an RC Trailers Heavy Duty have an equivalent at your shop?
The toughest enclosed trailer we sell is the 8.5 × 16 ft Ideal Cargo Work Zone, with 80 or 86 in of interior height and, on the All Black edition, 5,200 lb torsion axles and aluminum wheels. Its galvanized structure is warranted for 10 years against breakage.
Does a steel enclosed trailer rust?
Painted steel eventually rusts where the paint chips, especially under the trailer, because of road salt. Galvanized steel is coated with zinc, which protects it even where it is scratched. That is why Ideal Cargo can warrant its trailers’ structure for life against corrosion.
Can you inspect a used enclosed trailer?
Yes. Our workshop checks a trailer’s frame, axles, bearings, brakes, lights and doors, whatever the make, and handles repairs as needed. Call us to book a time.
Can you service my RC Trailers trailer?

Can I finance an enclosed trailer at Martin Remorques?
Yes. We work with National Bank of Canada for bank financing and, for businesses, with Crédit-Bail CLÉ for commercial leasing. We prepare the application with you; the institution approves it and sets the rate.
