MTI Trailers or Ideal Cargo trailer?
Martin Remorques does not sell MTI Trailers. For the same need, here are the brands sold at Martin Remorques:
MTI Trailers, or Middlebury Trailers, builds enclosed cargo trailers in Indiana, notably in steel, sold by dealers across North America. For the same use, Martin Remorques sells Ideal Cargo enclosed trailers, built in Québec, from 5 × 8 to 8.5 × 16 ft: the steel is galvanized, and the structure has a lifetime corrosion warranty.

Painted or galvanized steel?
MTI Trailers builds cargo trailers in steel, a solid and affordable choice. On a painted steel frame, though, the paint eventually chips at the corners, underneath and around the axles, and road salt attacks the bare steel. In Québec, an enclosed trailer often ages through its frame and crossmembers.
The Ideal Cargo keeps steel, but galvanized: the zinc protects the metal, even where it is scratched, and the maker warrants the structure for life against corrosion and for 10 years against breakage. Its recycled composite walls covered in aluminum make it about 10% lighter than a conventional trailer, according to Ideal Cargo.
Ideal Cargo sizes and their interior height
MTI Trailers also come in 4 and 5 ft widths. Our smallest is the 5 × 8 ft Work Zone, with 68 in of interior height, double rear doors, a side door and a compression lock. The 6 × 12 ft Sport Zone has 74 in inside and a 2,000 lb ramp door.
In the 7 ft width, 12 to 16 ft long, our Work Zone trailers have the extra 6 in of height: 80 in inside. The 7.5 ft width comes in 14 and 16 ft. The 8.5 × 16 ft has 80 in as standard, like the one with a 12 × 12 in access door, or 86 in on the raised editions.
R5 insulation and the white interior
Every Ideal Cargo we sell is R5 insulated. In winter, the insulation slows the inside from cooling and limits the condensation that forms when you open the doors: tools, boxes and merchandise stay drier. In summer, it keeps the trailer cooler in the sun.
The white interior finish reflects the light from the LED dome light and the built-in EVO 3.0 loading light: you see what you are looking for all the way to the front. With the side door, gutters over every door and side vents, the inside stays a place to work, not just a box.
Work Zone or Sport Zone: which rear door?
The Work Zone has double rear doors, which open the full width without taking up room behind the trailer: it is the trailer for contractors, shops and moves. You back up to a dock, load by hand or with a dolly, and lock up.
The Sport Zone has a rear door that folds into a 2,000 lb ramp and four 5,000 lb floor anchors: it is for the ATV, snowmobile, motorcycle or mower. Its slipper drop axles keep the floor low, which softens the ramp angle.
3,500 or 5,200 lb axles?
Our 7 ft wide Ideal Cargo trailers come with two 3,500 lb or two 5,200 lb axles. The 3,500 lb axles suit a trailer that carries tools, recreational gear or an ATV: that is the case for the 7 × 12 ft Work Zone, some 7 × 14 ft models and the Sport Zone.
The 5,200 lb axles carry more: you choose them for a well-stocked mobile workshop, materials or a trailer loaded every day. Some 7 × 14 ft models, our 7 × 16 ft, our 7.5 ft widths and our 8.5 × 16 ft have them, as drop, slipper or torsion axles depending on the model. Compare the planned load with your vehicle’s capacity: we help you choose.
Buying your enclosed trailer at Martin Remorques
At our lot in Saint-Ambroise-de-Kildare, in Lanaudière, you see an Ideal Cargo’s galvanized frame next to its insulated interior, and you compare sizes. If you are looking at an MTI Trailers, note its width, length and height: we will show you the closest Ideal Cargo.
To buy, we work with National Bank of Canada for bank financing and, for businesses, with Crédit-Bail CLÉ for commercial leasing, and we prepare the application with you. After the sale, our workshop handles maintenance, repairs and equipment installation, and our parts counter finds the lighting, hitch, wheels and tires your trailer needs.
Does Martin Remorques sell MTI Trailers trailers?
No, we are not a MTI Trailers dealer. For an enclosed trailer, we sell Ideal Cargo Work Zone and Sport Zone trailers, built in Québec. Their structure is galvanized steel, with a lifetime corrosion warranty.
Which Ideal Cargo replaces a small MTI trailer?
For a small enclosed trailer, see the 5 × 8 ft Work Zone, with double rear doors, a side door and 68 in of interior height, or the 6 × 12 ft Sport Zone, with a 2,000 lb ramp door. Both are galvanized and R5 insulated.
What interior height should an enclosed trailer have?
If you need to stand inside or install shelving, aim for at least 80 in, like our 7 ft wide Work Zone trailers. For an ATV or equipment, the door height matters just as much: the 7 × 12 ft Sport Zone has a 74 in door. The 8.5 × 16 ft goes up to 86 in.
Is an insulated enclosed trailer worth it?
In Québec, yes, if you leave tools, batteries, merchandise or moisture-sensitive gear inside. The R5 insulation in our Ideal Cargo trailers limits condensation and temperature swings, winter and summer.
Can you service my MTI Trailers trailer?
Yes. Our workshop handles general maintenance, repairs and equipment installation on trailers of any make. Call us with the make, year and the work needed. Our parts counter also finds lighting, hitches, wheels and tires.
Can I finance an enclosed trailer at Martin Remorques?
Yes. We work with National Bank of Canada for bank financing and, for businesses, with Crédit-Bail CLÉ for commercial leasing. We prepare the application with you; the institution approves it and sets the rate.
